The Swain of Yore
Recently, I encountered an old friend.
We fell to talking, as we do, of our nautical adventures in her Majesty’s Royal Navy. My old comrade, Georgio, related with some sadness that his son, Petri, upon hearing the tale of the valiance of Bosun Botwa Jennings, had no idea what a boatswain is or does. Georgio implored me to correct this fatal inadequacy of the latest generation. Therefore, I set about recording the history and lore of the boatswain, that I might relay it, in pieces, to a fettered, uneducated, and largely boatswainless world.
